The Paddleboat Company operates the 1907 paddleboat Otunui on Lake Maraetai. Scheduled public cruises along with charters, scenic tours, glow-worm kayaking tours, corporate events and trout fishing trips are all available.

The Maraetai section of the Waikato River Trail lies between Mangakino and Whakamaru. A bike/walk/kayak shuttle is available using the Otunui paddleboat to take you on a cruise to your start point, where you will walk/bike/kayak back to Mangakino. 12km, 8km, or 6km options.
